People frequently runs a John and Carolyn story in July or August, tied to the anniversary of their July 16, 1999 death in the plane crash, always promising to reveal the truth or the untold story:

This year they're focusing on Carolyn and when I first saw the cover, I was intrigued. I find Carolyn fascinating and I'd love to know her untold story, if there is one. I assumed the cover story was tied to a new book written by someone close to her, but I was wrong. In the story currently posted at people.com, there's nothing about a new book and not much new information. It has some on-the-record quotes from friends and one of John's cousins, but there's no deep insight about this woman who died 18 year ago at age 33. (Read it here.)
