Dogs! - Updated

Dogs in Halloween costumes are taking over my Insta feed today, which makes me very happy:

I'm also happy to see this picture again:

No costumes, but still, very cute:

Update #2, more:

Joanna Gaines

Issue dated November 12, 2018: Joanna Gaines

Another HGTV/Gaines cover? Yup, for the third time this year, this time part of the publicity for Joanna's upcoming book. I had Meghan, Jennifer Garner and the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting on the Guessing Game list. No sign of Michelle Obama yet, and somewhat to my surprise, no sign of the other Megyn who's been in the news this week.

Last year at this time: Issue dated November 13, 2017

Two years ago People ran their first story about "Harry's American girlfriend." Her life sure has changed since then, hasn't it?

Issue dated November 14, 2016

A Word From The Prince Of Wales - Updated

No news here, really, it's just unusual to hear directly from Prince Charles. As I've mentioned in previous posts, he turns 70 in two weeks, and in a couple of recent pictures I thought he was looking his age, or to be more precise, I thought he appeared to have aged quite a bit. I admit, I wonder how old he'll be when he finally accedes to the throne.

Thursday morning update: More publicity for Charles. It looks like he's going to be everywhere in the days leading up to his birthday.

I'm more interested to read the story about why Camilla is Charles's rock. Did you notice that although she got a headline, the Duchess is not pictured on the cover? To quote Tina Brown, and I'm paraphrasing from memory, these days no one steals, or even shares, the spotlight. It's all about Charles. You can read the VF story here.

*Very* Rare Bipartisan Agreement: They Don't Want To Stand Next To Trump

From Talking Points Memo:

If there's one thing Democrats and Republicans agree on, it's that they do not want to appear with President Donald Trump on his trip to visit the site of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.

According to a Tuesday CNN report, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) all turned down the invitation. Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto (D) and a handful of state and local officials also RSVP'd no.

Trump will make the rounds with first lady Melania Trump and his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

According to comments he made on CNN Monday, Peduto has tried to convey to the President that he should not come this week, as his presence will disrupt the funerals for those slain over the week-end. Nevertheless, the Trumps are slated to arrive in Pittsburgh Tuesday at 2 p.m.

The Most Followers

This gentleman, who is a Portuguese footballer (or as we say here in the colonies, a soccer player,) now has more Instagram followers than anyone else on earth. How many? 144,482,390. (That's the number that was in an article I saw, read it here. Based on his profile, above, as I'm writing on Tuesday, he's now at 144.5 million and that number is certain to rise.) Just think how much money he could make shilling for Sugar Bear Hair or Fab Fit Fun boxes...
