*Very* Rare Bipartisan Agreement: They Don't Want To Stand Next To Trump
From Talking Points Memo:
If there's one thing Democrats and Republicans agree on, it's that they do not want to appear with President Donald Trump on his trip to visit the site of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.
According to a Tuesday CNN report, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) all turned down the invitation. Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto (D) and a handful of state and local officials also RSVP'd no.
Trump will make the rounds with first lady Melania Trump and his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner.
According to comments he made on CNN Monday, Peduto has tried to convey to the President that he should not come this week, as his presence will disrupt the funerals for those slain over the week-end. Nevertheless, the Trumps are slated to arrive in Pittsburgh Tuesday at 2 p.m.
