I might as well admit it: I'm caught up in the drama of tonight's finale episode of The Bachelorette. Local news here in Chicago had a segment about city resident Nick, pointing out that this is the second July in a row that's he's made it to the finale of this show. Is he engaged to Kaitlyn? Almost certainly not, based on what we've seen so far, and as I pointed out in an earlier post, at age 34, it's time for Mr. Viall to resign from Bachelor Nation and get on with his life. Will Kaitlyn and Shawn get married and live happily ever after? Almost certainly not; in fact they strike me as one of the more unlikely couples in Bach/Bach'ette history. I anticipate there will be a strong "going through the motions" aura about their relationship and I give it six months, tops.
In the meantime, will Kaitlyn and Shawn (and possibly Nick too) be on the cover of the new issue of People when it comes out Wednesday morning, probably with some kind of snarky headline? Almost certainly. That's how it goes in Bachelor Nation and yes, I'm a citizen.
