Why does our president always look so out-of-place, so uncomfortable? Why, to be blunt, does he frequently look like such a slob?
This picture is from the Instagram feed of NY Times photographer Stephen Crowley and I disagree with his caption. Trump is not gripping Macron's hand firmly, his fingers are sticking out as if he's not sure how to shake hands at all. The whole image is just strange.
Update: Apparently it really was an awkward meeting. From Axios, quoting a White House pool report:
The two presidents, each wearing dark suits and
blue ties (Trump's was thick and royal blue; Macron's was skinny and navy) sat
in antique cream-upholstered arm chairs, with two American and French flags
behind them. They shook hands for an extended period of time. Each president
gripped the other's hand with considerable intensity, their knuckles turning
white and their jaws clenching and faces tightening.
