The Mooch Is Back! - Updated

That was then:

This is now:

In July, 2017, when Anthony Scaramucci was fired from his (very short-lived) White House job, I said that he had "hitched his wagon to the president out of ambition and hunger for power." That didn't work out too well, obviously. At the time I didn't spend much time pondering the Mooch's future career options, but if I had I'm not sure Reality TV star would have occurred to me. (Read that post here.)

Who will the Mooch be living with in the Big Brother house? His castmates include Kato Kaelin, Dina Lohan, Kandi Burruss and Natalie Eva Marie. Classy and accomplished all.

Anything to stay in the spotlight, I guess.

Sunday evening update. Is Anthony Scaramucci a "modestly recognizable figure?" CNN says so:

"Celebrity Big Brother" follows a group of modestly recognizable figures living together in a house filled with cameras and microphones picking up their every move. Someone is voted out of the house each week, and the last remaining guest wins a grand prize.

Scaramucci will be joined in the house by actor Jonathan Bennett, singer Tamar Braxton, singer Kandi Burruss, comedian Tom Green, Olympian Lolo Jones, OJ Simpson trial figure Kato Kaelin, actor Joey Lawrence, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, "Momager" Dina Lohan, wrestler Natalie Eva Marie, and former NFL running back Ricky Williams.

And to bring you completely up-to-date, apparently the Mooch and his wife Deidre Ball reconciled a few months after they separated in the summer of 2017. The most interesting tidbit, which I had forgotten about, is that during the separation he dated Kimberly Guilfoyle. (Who's Kimberly dating now? Donald Trump Jr.) This is from a Page Six article dated Nov. 30, 2017:

The pair had bitterly parted ways back in July, with Page Six exclusively reporting that they were ending their three-year marriage because Ball was sick of Scaramucci’s “naked political ambition.”

The former Wall Street executive landed in the national spotlight this summer when he was chosen to be the new White House communications director following Sean Spicer’s resignation.

Things wound up getting nasty between him and Ball in the months after they split — with Scaramucci even going so far as to order a paternity test for their newborn child.

Ball was nine months pregnant when she filed for divorce from him.

Their reunion will likely surprise many, seeing how Scaramucci was said to have been seeing Fox News anchor Kimberly Guilfoyle as recently as October. Multiple sources told Page Six in the past that the pair had been dating — and there have even been reports saying they took romantic trips to Rome and house-hunted together in Manhattan.

Update #2 on Tuesday morning. There's something else about the legend of Anthony Scaramucci that had slipped my mind. He isn't the first ex-Trump staffer to appear on Celebrity Big Brother. Omarosa did too.
