Meeting The Queen - Updated

This is what happens when you've been the Queen for 66 years. Apparently Her Majesty has met every U.S. president since 1952, except Lyndon Johnson, who didn't visit London during his presidency. Harry Truman was actually president on the day in 1952 when King George VI died and then-Princess Elizabeth acceded to the throne. Elizabeth had visited Washington and met President Truman when she was a princess, but she never met with him again after she became Queen.

There's another historic meeting scheduled for today, of course. How will it go? Who knows. Does the Queen wish she could come down with a cold and not have to shake hands with the Donald? Probably. And most importantly, what will Melania wear? Will she wear a hat and white gloves, as Pat Nixon did? Jackie and Michelle have gloves on too, but those were formal dinner events. Donald and Melania just get tea. My guess for Melania would be hat, yes, as she did when the Macrons visited the White House, but gloves, no. Stay tuned, when the pictures come out I'll update this post.

Late morning update: It was a hat and gloves for the Queen, neither of those things for Melania. The big moment has happened, but it was almost immediately overshadowed/upstaged by the news from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein's press conference. (Read about that here.)

Update #2: Donald's having a great time, Melania's having a great time, the Queen, not so much.
The royal meeting at Windsor isn't the only thing happening in England today. A few people came out in mid-town London to express their feelings about the current U.S. president:
