Here we are, coming up on 48 hours before the wedding -- the forecast for Saturday is holding steady at 30% chance of rain and it's actually been raining all day today. After a lot of discussion yesterday the decision was made to go ahead and get a big tent, just in case. Hopefully just knowing there will be a tent will help everyone to relax about the (possibly) less-than-perfect weather. I'm being a little superstitious and hoping that having the tent there will be insurance against actually needing it, as in "Sure, we brought in a tent and now the sun is shining..." As I said in an earlier post, the wedding will go on, rain or shine.
We've started a list, and we're filling a very large bag, with stuff to be sure and take to the wedding: the "Reserved" signs, table signs, painted candle holders, potted plants, etc. I've got my own list, which is shorter and mostly features flat shoes for the reception. I'm also taking my mother's diamond earrings and aquamarine ring, which Lisa is going to wear. It's very sentimental to all of us and we're sure missing Mom this week.
The men in the wedding party, including my b-i-l, also known as the "Father of the Bride," are going to pick up their tuxes this afternoon and the bride, the maid-of-honor, my sister, a.k.a, the "Mother of the Bride," and I are going for manicures. Various female members of the family, who shall remain unnamed, have been indulging in assorted rituals including exfoliating, waxing, spray tanning, updo test runs and pedicures. I may be getting into "too much information" territory so I'll simply say that it's all lots of fun and it's going to be a great wedding!
