📈Lookups for 'ignominious' are up 4,695% after Jake Tapper used the word to describe the failed ACA repeal. https://t.co/lZJJZzYgg5— Merriam-Webster (@MerriamWebster) March 24, 2017
Ignominious: adj., dishonorable, despicable, humiliating, degrading. (From my Merriam-Webster Dictionary.)
I love that people took to the dictionary when they heard a word they don't know. For the record, I do know the word and used it in a post on October 23, and for the record, my usage was correct. Unfortunately the expectation I expressed, which was that Donald Trump was going to go down in "ignominious, historic defeat," was extremely incorrect. (Read it here.)
