Issue dated November 30, 2015
I got a little behind posting the covers; this brings us up to date. The new issue is posted a couple of days early, presumably because of the holiday later this week. Based on the number of "Sofia's getting married" stories at people.com over the week-end I had figured she'd get the main cover story this week, but apparently Adele is bigger news. I had a moment of thinking "Another Kennedy story, really?" but then I remembered - yesterday was Nov. 22, the 52nd anniversary of the assassination, always a hook for a Kennedy story about something or other. I have no idea what "shocking tapes" the headline refers to.

Happy Geography Awareness Week!
National Geographic believes Americans need to know more about geography, and based on this tweet from presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson, they're absolutely right:
What's wrong with this picture? Look closely up in the northeast corner of the country. Dr. Carson has misplaced the New England states. Yes, I know, it probably wasn't the good doctor himself who created this graphic, but still - it's got his name on it. The tweet has now been deleted but as always happens, a few enterprising souls captured the screenshot for all eternity before it disappeared.

Bye, Bye, Bobby!
Wednesday morning update: The Fix blog has a couple of fun graphs this morning. First, Jindal's polling compared with The Donald's:
I like this chart too, which tracks the start and (future) end dates of both the D and the R campaigns:
Original Post:
I think I got campaign overload there for a while, when I had to step back a bit from closely following everything that happens in the race for president. Today, however, another Republican candidate dropped out of the race and that was enough to bring me back to the blog. Bobby Jindal, currently the (term-limited) governor of Louisiana never got much traction and didn't even get to debate with the big guys on the main stage. His fund-raising was disappointing and his poll numbers were in the cellar, so today he packed it in, saying "I've come to the realization this is not my time." This leaves us with 14 declared candidates; who do you suppose will drop out next? I've updated my lists:
Declared (and still in the race) GOP Candidates, in order of their official announcement
You're Fired!: Candidates Who Have Dropped Out
Rick Perry (June 4 - Sept. 11)
Scott Walker (July 13 - Sept. 21)
Bobby Jindal (June 24 - November 17)

Yuck. Isn't there anything else going on in the world? Well, yes. The pregnant Duggar daughter gave birth last week and I'm pretty sure that will be the main story when the new cover comes out shortly after 7.00.
And here's the new cover, ick, ick, ick.

Leah Remini
Issue dated November 16, 2015
People posted the new cover a day early and for the third week in a row, the main cover story is tied to a book written (and being publicized) by a famous and attractive woman. I figured Halle Berry's Celebrity Divorce would be front and center this week but she and Olivier are downgraded to a sidebar. I'm happy to note that there no Kardashians and no Duggars to be seen. This is a good thing.
